MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – Belarusian innovative advances in the area of research and development of weapon technologies are presented during the international defense technology expo EDEX 2018, which was opened in Cairo, Egypt on 3 December, BelTA learned from the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus.
One collective stand is used to demonstrate defense products of multiple Belarusian companies. The companies include Belspetsvneshtechnika, KB Radar, Atomtex, and Defense Initiatives. The industrial group BelOMO and the company Minotor-Service have opted for independent stands of their own.
The Belarusian products on display include innovative hard-kill solutions, radio location and radio warfare solutions designed to counteract unmanned aerial vehicles, armored multipurpose vehicles, opportunities for modernizing air defense missiles and air-to-air missiles, optic-electronic complexes for armored vehicles and firearms, the latest radiation measurement products.
EDEX 2018 is supposed to become the largest event in this sphere in the Middle East region and the world. As many as 373 companies from 41 countries are demonstrating their products. The expo features 19 national sections from the USA, France, the United Arab Emirates, China, Russia, and other countries. Some 10,000 high-ranking army officers, representatives of weapon manufacturers, and other defense industry professionals are expected to visit the expo. The Belarusian delegation is led by Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus Roman Golovchenko. He is expected to meet with Egyptian Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed El Asar and heads of foreign delegations on the sidelines of the expo.
EDEX 2018 will continue working through 5 December.
