Belarusian Bellegprom to export more to EU, more actively explore China

Belarusian Bellegprom to export more to EU, more actively explore China

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom have increased supplies to the European Union and intend to enhance cooperation with China, Bellegprom Chairwoman Tatyana Lugina said at the international light industry wholesale expo BelTexIndustry 2019, BelTA has learned.

“Promoting export is a priority mission for Bellegprom. Shipments to Russia have dropped a bit this year although the volume of trade remains the same in physical terms. Taking into account the current situation with Russia, we view the EU market as the priority market. In the January-September, our export to the EU went up by 10.7% and we are carefully analyzing which exports could be boosted,” Tatyana Lugina said.

Moreover, one of the main goals of the Belarusian light industry for 2020 will be to expand into the Chinese market. According to Tatyana Lugina, the Chinese market has a large capacity, but it is quite difficult to secure a niche in it. “Enterprises that manage to solve the mystery of the Chinese market succeed. This is why we are eager to break into that market in 2020,” she said.

Speaking about the domestic market, Tatyana Lugina noted that Belarusian companies have advantages that help them compete with foreign brands, but they lack efficient marketing strategies. “I think that we have not fully mastered such instruments as marketing and PR services, Internet platforms and social networks. Our promotion methods, for example, via proprietory stores, retail or wholesale trade networks, are slightly bureaucratic and do not appeal to customers, especially young ones,” she added.

The BelTexIndustry expo opened in Minsk on 2 October. It showcases collections of over 80 enterprises from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, China, and Pakistan. Exhibits include fabrics, apparel and knitwear, headwear, footwear and its components, fittings, sewing machines and equipment. Visitors of the event are invited not only to look at the latest trends in the fashion industry, but also to buy unique designer fabrics and learn peculiarities of clothes manufacturing.

The program of the expo includes fashion shows demonstrating more than 20 collections of the leading Belarusian designers. For example, the Svitanak company will present a collection of sports clothes designed in association with Belarusian biathlete Nadezhda Skardino.

The expo also features a lot of business events, including consultations and workshops on the important matters of the textile industry, and a purchasing session featuring the largest Belarusian and Russian trade networks.

This year’s expo is expected to attract at least 4,000 visitors. The organizers have set up zones for talks and roundtables.

The expo will be running till 4 October. It has been organized by the national exhibition center BelExpo assisted by the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom.
