Belarus, Vietnam interested in closer business ties

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Vietnam would like to expand business cooperation, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Denis Meleshkin said at an online business meeting "Belarus - Vietnam: New Horizons of Strategic Economic Partnership", BelTA has learned.

"The cooperation between our countries is on the rise. Recent years have seen high-profile political and business visits, meetings at the  highest level, a number of exhibition events and forums where business people forge new contacts. All this suggests that Belarus and Vietnam are interested in closer business cooperation,” he said.

Interregional cooperation between the countries is also gaining momentum: the city of Minsk and practically all regions of Belarus have corresponding agreements with Vietnam. "In addition to trade and economy, we cooperate in social and cultural fields. All this is aimed at expanding contacts, facilitating and increasing mutual trade which has grown significantly in recent years. I hope that today's event will also contribute to the economic integration of Belarus and Vietnam,” Denis Meleshkin emphasized.

According to him, there are various ways to promote bilateral contacts. “Belarus is the center of Europe, Vietnam is one of the main economic centers in the Asian region. We need to make the most of the advantages of our countries to strengthen business ties,” Denis Meleshkin believes.

The BelCCI deputy head added that this online meeting aroused a huge interest among Belarusian business people. More than 120 companies representing various economic sectors registered to participate in it, which attests to their interest in doing business with partners from Vietnam.
