Belarus, Uzbekistan to implement 15 joint scientific and technical projects

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Uzbekistan have approved a list of 15 joint projects in various areas the countries intend to co-finance, the State Science and Technology Committee announced after the first meeting of the Belarus-Uzbekistan committee on cooperation in science and technology, BelTA has learned.

The list includes projects in mechanical engineering, agriculture and agricultural technologies, healthcare and pharmacy, new materials, ICT, genetics and biotechnologies. They have been shortlisted after the contest of joint scientific and technical projects for 2019-2021 in priority areas of bilateral cooperation. The projects will be launched this month.

The parties also intend to create at least two joint research laboratories in Belarus and Uzbekistan.

“During the meeting, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Aleksandr Shumilin and Minister of Innovative Development Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov signed an executive program on cooperation in science, technology and innovations for 2019-2021,” the press service of the committee noted. “Belarus and Uzbekistan will develop scientific and technical cooperation in cutting-edge technologies, exchange information, carry out joint R&D projects of mutual interest.”
