Belarus to debut at Foodex Japan in Tokyo

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) - Belarus will make a debut at the international food and beverage tradeshow Foodex Japan, BelTA learned from Anna Kaminskaya, a leading public relations specialist of the Belinterexpo exhibition company at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Belinterexpo invites Belarusian companies and organizations to take part in Belarus’ national expo at the 41st international food and beverage exhibition Foodex Japan in Tokyo. This will be the first time that Belarus will be represented at this prestigious international tradeshow which will be held from 8 to 11 March 2016,” said Anna Kaminskaya.

She stressed that Foodex Japan will give an opportunity to Belarusian exporters to showcase products such as meat and poultry, milk, eggs, cereals, bread and pasta, potatoes, vegetables, fruit, mushrooms, packaging, sugar, syrup, honey, edible oils and confectionery, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, dietary products, products grown without the use of fertilizers. "The absence of GMOs in domestic food can drum up an interest in products from Belarus, and become a competitive advantage over other companies in the Asia-Pacific region," the specialist said.

All enterprises regardless of the form of ownership, representing Belarusian goods and services, can participate in the national exposition. Applications are open until 21 January 2016.

The organizers of Belarus’ national exposition at Foodex Japan are the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, regional executive committees, Belgospishcheprom concern. Exhibition operator is Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Foodex Japan is the number one food and beverage expo in the Asia Pacific region. About two-thirds of the exhibitors are international companies that use this exhibition as an opportunity to meet directly with buyers from Japan. In 2015 the exhibition drew nearly 3,000 participants from 79 countries. For four days, the exhibition was visited by more than 77,000 people. "Japan is an economic leader of Asia and has a high purchasing power (average GDP per capita in Japan is over $36,000). Import accounts for 60% of the total food market in Japan. Participation of the Belarusian companies in Foodex Japan can serve as a starting point to advance to the Asian market,” Anna Kaminskaya remarked.
