Belarus to attend World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – A representative of Belarus will attend the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, BelTA learned from Lilia Koval, Vice Chairperson at the Minsk Capital Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers.

“Member of the Minsk Hub of Global Shapers Denis Kolga will take part in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos on 20 to 23 January 2016. The forum will bring together heads of the biggest companies of the world, political leaders, outstanding scientists, and journalists,” Lilia Koval said.

She noted that the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos is one of major events in international political and economic life. The agenda of the three-day forum includes matters related to the promotion of peace and stability in the world and the economic development prospects. Some 200 plenary meetings, seminars, and roundtables will be held as part of the forum.

The team of the Minsk Hub of Global Shapers came up with a proposal that caught the attention of WEF executives. The proposal will be discussed at an event during the prestigious forum in Davos. Its main idea is to set up in Belarus a temporary or a long-lasting international platform under the aegis of the Global Shapers Community/WEF which would deal with resolution of conflicts in post-Soviet countries. “The Minsk Hub is set to use the platform of the Davos forum to promote Belarus in the international arena,” Lilia Koval stressed.

The Global Shapers Community is an initiative of the World Economic Forum. It is a network of local groups (Hubs) led by young people who are exceptional in their potential, achievements and drive to make a positive contribution to their communities.
