MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) - Sweden has allocated €195,000 as technical assistance for the implementation of the project to develop additional functions of real estate management system in Belarus. The statement was made by Chairman of the Board of the public organization Land Reform Miroslav Kobasa at the international conference on the development of additional functions of the real estate management system which was underway in Minsk on 10 April, BelTA has learnt.

“Our cooperation with the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority began in 1998. Since that time a number of various projects have been implemented. Today we review another project on the support for the development of additional functions of the real estate management system in Belarus. It began in autumn 2010 and ends in May 2014. During this time the Swedish side allocated €195,000 as technical assistance,” noted Miroslav Kobasa.

Miroslav Kobasa stressed that besides the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority taking part in the project were the public organization Land Reform, the State Property Committee of Belarus, the Communications and Information Technologies Ministry, the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry and their subordinate agencies. The main goals of the project, according to Miroslav Kobasa, were the improvement of methods of real estate assessment, support for the creation of the new geodetic network, e-government, the improvement of urban territorial planning and professional improvement of Belarusian specialists. During the project 59 various events were held. “Belarusian specialists had an opportunity to meet with Swedish counterparts to discuss various topics and search for joint solutions. As many as 12 educational visits were organized to Sweden, Georgia, Denmark, Latvia and Ukraine. As many as 15 seminars on different topics were held during the project,” he said.

Belarusian and Swedish partners published 16 books. Two other books were published within the framework of the project to support additional functions of the real estate management system in the Republic of Belarus.

For his part, head of the project, Chief Specialist of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority Karl-Erik Solskier, noted that the initiative to implement joint projects had come from the Belarusian side. “Swedish experts acted mostly in the capacity of consultants, while main work was carried out by Belarusian specialists. Experts from Belarus showed a high level of professionalism. All in all, 35-40 Swedish experts have taken part in the implementation of projects in recent years,” he underlined.

Director General of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority Bengt Kjellson also underscored that he is proud of the cooperation and the results that the Belarusian and Swedish side achieved during the implementation of joint projects.

Deputy Chairman of the State Property Committee of Belarus Alexander Litreyev noted that on 9 April a meeting was held between Chairman of the State Property Committee Georgy Kuznetsov and Director General of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority Bengt Kjellson. “This conversation, which lasted 1.5 hours, helped define the avenues of further cooperation and possible promising areas of joint work and other matters,” said Alexander Litreyev.
