Belarus, Serbia hope for higher mutual trade in 2016

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Serbia hope to increase bilateral trade in 2016, heads of the Belarusian and Serbian parts of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and sci-tech cooperation Vladimir Koltovich and Zeljko Sertic told media on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

“In 2015 Belarus-Serbia trade totaled $253 million, up 3.4% in comparison with 2014. In January 2016 its growth reached 14.4%. It would be great to keep this pace till the end of the year,” stressed Belarus Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich.

Serbia Economy Minister Zeljko Sertic emphasized that the information Serbia has on the bilateral trade slightly differs. Currently work is underway to coordinate the data calculation methodology.

“What we are doing now, including opening doors for our businessmen, is much more important,” said Zeljko Sertic.

As BelTA earlier informed, Minsk played host to a meeting of the Business Council for Cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on 29 March. About 130 Serbian businessmen came to Minsk to take part in the event.

On 30 March the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the 9th session of the Belarusian-Serbian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and sci-tech cooperation. A protocol was signed at the end of the meeting.
