Belarus, Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast eager to start assembling buses, tractors

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – A way has been worked out for the Belarusian side to participate in the establishment of facilities to assemble MAZ buses powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and tracked tractors on the basis of industrial enterprises in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast. The relevant agreement was reached as Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich met with Chelyabinsk Oblast Vice Governor Yegor Kovalchuk via a videoconference, the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry press service told BelTA.

The sides exchanged up-to-date information about the social and economic situation in Belarus and Russia. Key aspects of bilateral cooperation were discussed. The shipment of MAZ passenger vehicles powered by liquefied natural gas to Chelyabinsk Oblast was discussed, including the possibility of starting their assembly at premises of OOO Uralpromtekhnika in the city of Miass. The organization of joint production of tracked vehicles and special-purpose machines of the Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ on the basis of industrial enterprises in Chelyabinsk Oblast was also on the agenda.

During the negotiations the sides worked out a way for the Belarusian side to contribute to the modernization of the tram fleet of Chelyabinsk. An agreement was reached on considering the possibility of twinning Russian Zlatoust and Belarusian Zhlobin.
