Belarus ready to take part in Sudan’s construction projects

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to take part in the construction and reconstruction of energy facilities in Sudan, Belarus Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik said as he met with Sudan Minister of Petroleum and Gas Mohamed Awad in Khartoum, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.

Vladimir Potupchik heads the Belarusian part of the Belarus-Sudan intergovernmental commission on cooperation. His counterpart Mohamed Awad leads the Sudanese part of the commission. The parties took stock of the progress made in the implementation of the agreements included into the final protocol of the meeting of the joint Belarusian-Sudanese commission, which was held in Minsk in April 2016, and shared opinions on the measures necessary for further intensification of bilateral cooperation and issues affecting the development of trade, economic, sci-tech, humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

Vladimir Potupchik reaffirmed the readiness to consider ways to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with Sudan in the energy sector, including Belarus' participation in the joint implementation of projects pertaining to designing, construction and reconstruction of energy facilities in Sudan. It was noted that the organizations of the Belarusian Energy Ministry has highly-qualified personnel and vast experience in performing building, installation, research and design works, including abroad.
