MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) - Belarus is ready to assist in developing dairy farming in Myanmar, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister– Director of the Veterinary and Food Supervision Department Ivan Smilgin met with Ambassador of Myanmar to Belarus Maung Maung Soe. Particular attention was paid to long-term industrial cooperation. The Belarusian side expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in developing dairy farming in Myanmar, including the design of modern farms and their outfitting with advanced equipment. Dialogue on the possibility of Belarusian specialists participating in the construction of a dairy farm complex in Myanmar is ongoing.
In H1 2026, trade between the countries increased 2.5 times year-on-year. Both Belarusian exports and imports gained momentum. Dry dairy products traditionally account for the bulk of Belarusian exports to the Asian region. “We are ready to increase supplies and diversify our export range. In addition to dairy products, we offer meat products (beef), wheat flour, pasta and meat-and-bone meal, as well as rapeseed oil,” Ivan Smilgin said.
Agricultural education cooperation was another important topic of the meeting. Myanmar is interested in upgrading the skills of its specialists. The Belarusian side invited its counterparts to visit higher agricultural education institutions supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food to learn about the organization of the studying process, from classroom studies to work in specialized laboratories, workshops, and experimental fields.
The sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening the partnership and implementing joint projects in the agricultural and industrial sphere.
