Belarus’ plans to process 18m tonnes of oil in 2018 remain intact

MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – The plans to process 18 million tonnes of oil at the Belarusian refineries Mozyr and Naftan in 2018 remain intact. The country is working on the diversification of oil exports, deputy chairman of the Board of the Belneftekhim concern Vladimir Sizov told journalists at the international conference on the Central and Eastern Europe oil and gas markets on 9 April, BelTA has learned.

“We are constantly monitoring the matters related with the diversification of oil exports. We take into account economic efficiency, in the first place. At the moment we are processing Russian oil,” Vladimir Sizov noted.

When commenting on the modernization of the oil refineries, he said these investment projects had received around two thirds of the funding. “This process is underway. We plan to complete the projects on schedule, in line with the construction plans,” Vladimir Sizov remarked. Belarus will strive to complete the large-scale investment projects before the end of the so-called tax maneuver in Russia, he added.

BelTA reported earlier that Russia had signed agreements with Belarus to supply 24 million tonnes of oil to the country through 2024. Eighteen million tonnes will be processed at oil refineries. Another 6 million will go through customs clearance once again.
