MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – In 2020 Belarus intends to increase export of agricultural and food products by 4.2% over 2019, Head of the Main Department for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Aleksei Bogdanov said at a press conference on 5 February, BelTA has learned.

In 2020 Belarus will continue boosting food export. “All stakeholders have already received the relevant plans approved by the government. We intend to increase shipments by 4.2% over 2019 to exceed $5.7 billion in export,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

Dairy products are expected to be the main driver of growth as always. “We have put in a lot of work to improve conditions dairy cattle are kept in at farms. Productivity and output of dairy products are projected to grow. Increased output (coupled with high prices for dairy products that are expected to remain in place in 2020) will help Belarus boost export,” Aleksei Bogdanov noted.

According to him, crop products are also expected to contribute to export growth. “We aim to increase output of crop products that are bound for export. Moreover, the climate is changing. We can now experiment with and grow new plants for Belarus, and then export their products,” Aleksei Bogdanov added.
