MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) - Another 60 projects under the One District–One Project initiative will have been implemented in Belarus by the end of the year, Dmitry Klimenkov, Head of the Main Department of Investment and Construction Activity of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, said in a new episode of BelTA’s Nation Speaks project.

The One District-One Project initiative is a key element of the organizational work that has helped accelerate investment development in Belarus. “Speaking about the results, we have about 200 projects within this program. The country has 129 administrative territorial units, but there are 218 projects. This means some districts have two or more projects. To date, the investment phase has been completed for approximately 100 projects. Eighty-six districts have already commissioned them, with the investment stage finished, the commissioning certificate signed, and the stage of reaching design capacity launched,” Dmitry Klimenkov said.

Thus, two-thirds of the districts (86 out of 129) have already completed their projects. According to the head of the main department, the completion of another approximately 60 projects is expected by the end of the year. “There are major projects in the regions; for example, carbon production in Mogilev, and woodworking and food industry projects in Minsk Oblast. I don't want to single out individual projects because comparing them by investment volume can be misleading. For some districts, a project worth Br1 million that creates ten jobs can be highly significant. We understand that a large project cannot appear in a small district. Everything depends on competencies, personnel, opportunities, and infrastructure,” he explained. “Everyone has different conditions. The main goal of this initiative is for every district to have at least one project.”
