Belarus’ National Expo in Tajikistan draws visitors prior to opening

DUSHANBE, 14 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ National Expo in Dushanbe has become a center of business meetings and negotiations even before its opening, BelTA has learnt.

The expo is to open officially on 15 May in the presence of Belarus’ head of state Alexander Lukashenko and his Tajikistan’s counterpart Emomali Rahmon. Belarusian journalists had toured the expo beforehand to be the first to know what will be shown to the presidents and representatives of the business community of Tajikistan. Naturally, many booths of Belarusian manufacturers were not ready yet. Nevertheless, the expo drew many visitors. Among them were Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Shavkat Boboyev and Agriculture Minister Izzatullo Sattori. Government officials and local businessmen walked along the isles showing great interest in the exhibits.

Organizers of the event assure that there is a lot to see at the expo. “It is Belarus’ biggest expo abroad in recent years. Taking part in the event are representatives of nearly 150 companies and organizations. All major economic sectors are represented here. These are industry giants, including mechanical engineering companies, petrochemical companies, food producers and many more. Belarus-Tajikistan cooperation has been put on the fast track. There is a great interest in our products and services. Even now, in the run-up to the official opening, we are approached by local businessmen who want to know who will take part in the expo and what will be showcased. We expect many agreements and a keen interest,” Director of Belinterexpo Evgeny Vvedensky said.

He noted that such a form to present Belarus’ economic capacities is a success in many countries across the globe, in particular in the Orient. “Personal contacts are of great significance here. It is important to be able to talk to people and to touch a product. The expo gives a great opportunity to study the vast potential of Belarus’ economy,” he said.

Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Odil Sangov underlined that business ties between the two countries are on the rise. “Tajikistani entrepreneurs would like to study Belarus’ practices in processing of agricultural products. Engineering and technology of production of agricultural machinery, road building vehicles and equipment for mining industry are of great interest, too. There are multiple topics for talks and negotiations,” he said.

Belarus’ National Expo will be open in Tajikistan on 15-17 May. Taking part in the event will be companies and organizations affiliated with the Industry Ministry, Architecture and Construction Ministry, Healthcare Ministry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Education Ministry, Agriculture and Food Ministry, Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, Ministry of Sport and Tourism, State Science and Technology Committee, National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belgospishcheprom Concern, Bellesbumprom Concern, Belneftekhim Concern, regional authorities and the Minsk City Executive Committee.

The total area of the expo is 2,233 square meters, including 959 square meters of indoor area and 1,280 square meters of outdoor area. The outdoor area will feature dozens of machinery samples presented by MTZ, MAZ, Amkodor, Gomselmash, Bobruiskagromash, Lidagromash.

A business forum will take place in Dushanbe on 15 May. Taking part in the forum will be businessmen from Belarus, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and a number of other countries.
