Belarus, Myanmar discuss footwear production localization project

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) - A footwear factory is planned to be built in Myanmar with the support of Belarusian specialists. This was discussed at a working meeting between Bellegprom Chairwoman Nadezhda Lazarevich and a Myanmar delegation led by Ambassador of Myanmar to Belarus Maung Maung Soe, the press service of the Bellegprom concern told BelTA.

The meeting was also attended by Director of the scientific and technical center “LEMT” of BelOMO Aleksei Shkadarevich. The sides discussed a program for the upcoming visit of the Myanmar delegation to BelOMO holding’s facilities, including a visit to an outdoor exhibition of Belarusian machinery and technologies. A new contract on localizing production in Myanmar is expected to be signed at the site.

A memorandum on localizing footwear production in Myanmar is also expected to be signed during the upcoming business forum. The project provides for the construction of a modern footwear manufacturing facility in Myanmar with the support of Belarusian specialists.

The Belarusian side expressed its full readiness to actively assist in organizing events and negotiations during the upcoming visit of the Myanmar leadership to Belarus.

“Belarusian businesses and light industry enterprises are fully open to dialogue and are laying a solid foundation for launching joint industrial projects,” the press service of the concern said.
