Belarus, Moldova’s Gagauzia to assemble tractors together

CHISINAU, 22 September (BelTA) – Belarus and the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia in Moldova’s south have agreed to establish a joint venture to assemble small and medium-powered tractors. The project will be implemented via cooperation between the Bobruisk tractor factory and Bugeacagrotekhservis (a Bugeac-based agricultural technology service company), BelTA learned from Vitaly Vlah, head of Gagauzia’s Central Office for Foreign Ties, as he summed up results of the visit to Belarus.

Led by Vitaly Vlah, the Gagauzian delegation included representatives of the Ceadir-Lunga District administration, the Gagauzian parliament, the administration of the village of Copceac, and several businessmen from the region, who were interested in developing economic ties with Belarus.

Members of the delegation visited the tractor factory in Bobruisk where the possibility of opening a joint venture to assemble tractors was discussed. The enterprise is supposed to use premises of the Bugeacagrotekhservis enterprise in Ceadir-Lunga District. Ivan Nedov, director of the Moldovan enterprise, said that the joint venture is expected to assemble small and medium-powered tractors. The Copceac village administration is ready to buy the first two tractors.

During the visit to Belarus an agreement on cooperation between Ceadir-Lunga District and Bykhov District was signed as well as a twinning agreement between Copceac and Bykhov. The documents envisage interaction in economic, scientific, and cultural affairs. Vitaly Vlah added that Belarusian businessmen were interested in buying seeds from Gagauzia.

A Belarusian delegation that includes representatives of the Bykhov district administration and the private sector has been invited to take part in the first investment forum that will take place in Gagauzia in November 2015.
