MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Kazakhstan will deepen cooperation in the field of exchange trading of import-substituting goods, the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) told BelTA.

A Kazakh manufacturer of equipment for the construction industry has sold its products on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange for the first time. The transaction amounted to $776,000, making it the largest exchange transaction between Belarusian and Kazakh trading participants in the import-substituting goods segment. The buyer was a Belarusian enterprise engaged in the production of building materials.

The deal has significantly increased the exchange trade turnover between Belarus and Kazakhstan in the field of import substitution: from $9,500 in 2024 to $1.1 million in 2025. Meanwhile, in other commodity sectors, exchange trade between the two countries is also demonstrating high growth rates. This can be seen from the statistical data of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange for January-October 2025.

“This year, Kazakh companies have significantly increased their trading volume on the BUCE platform. In January-October, the amount of transactions reached $34 million, which was up by 26% year-on-year. Moreover, Belarusian exports accounted for 95% of mutual trade in value terms. Those were primarily supplies of dry whole and skimmed milk, butter, and sugar to the Kazakh market. Regarding imports, Belarusian companies purchased, via the exchange, ferrous metal products, spare parts for pumping units, and cotton yarn in Kazakhstan. Additionally, Kazakh participants conducted transit transactions to sell furniture and facing materials to Russia,” the BUCE press service reported.

It is expected that closer cooperation between Belarus and Kazakhstan in the field of import substitution will have a positive impact on exchange trade dynamics and also contribute to the optimization of the supply chain between the two countries by eliminating unnecessary intermediary links. Most major Kazakh enterprises using the BUCE platform are producers and consumers of goods, the BUCE press service informed.

As of today, 191 residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been accredited with BUCE (45 new participants since the start of the year).
