MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in advancing long-term ties with major corporations in Japan. The relevant ideas were discussed during the meeting of Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov and a delegation of the Belarus-Japan friendship group of the Japanese parliament on 20 July, BelTA has learned. The delegation was led by the group’s head Genichiro Sata, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

During the meeting Valentin Rybakov underlined that Belarus represents an excellent platform for setting up and developing joint ventures to make high-quality competitive products on the basis of Japanese technologies. It is an excellent platform for consequently selling these products on the large market of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union market.

During the meeting the sides also discussed topical aspects of Belarus-Japan relations focusing on interparliamentary cooperation. The Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs mentioned a considerable invigoration of the Belarus-Japan political dialogue, the advancement of cooperation in international organizations in 2015-2016. Valentin Rybakov also suggested expanding bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.

Representatives of Belarus and Japan spoke in positive terms about results of bilateral cooperation in minimizing consequences of the catastrophes at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The Japanese side thanked Belarus for inviting children from areas affected by the Fukushima accident to Belarus for rehabilitation. Genichiro Sata also noted that Belarus and Japan have a large potential for advancing manufacturing, technological, and investment cooperation.

At the end of the meeting Vladimir Rybakov and Genichiro Sata stated that joint work would facilitate the implementation of all kinds of economic projects in addition to invigorating Belarusian-Japanese ties.

On 20 July Valentin Rybakov also met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Yergali Bulegenov. During the meeting the Ambassador of Kazakhstan thanked Belarus for support during the recent elections to non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. Representing the Asian region, Kazakhstan was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The sides discussed prospects of Belarus-Kazakhstan cooperation in view of Kazakhstan’s forthcoming membership in the UN Security Council, said the source.
