Belarus, Indonesia draft five-year cooperation roadmap

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) - Belarus and Indonesia are developing a five-year cooperation roadmap. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov and Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Belarusian delegation included Deputy Industry Minister Denis Bakei, along with representatives from the Agriculture and Food Ministry and machinery manufacturers.
“The parties reviewed supplies of Belarusian equipment to the Indonesian market and prospects for joint industrial cooperation projects, including setting up assembly facilities in Indonesia. Special focus was placed on drafting a five-year cooperation roadmap to outline key collaborative areas and serve as a strategic guide for joint efforts,” the ministry’s press service said.
The parties agreed to form an additional working group at the deputy industry ministers' level under their bilateral trade and economic commission. The group will focus on strengthening cooperation in industry, petrochemicals, agricultural mechanization, and pharmaceuticals.
Discussions on practical steps to increase bilateral trade continued during Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov's meeting with Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairperson Anindya Novyan Bakrie. The parties pledged to enhance collaboration between their chambers of commerce, including organizing business delegation visits and economic events.
“The parties agreed to update the existing cooperation agreement between the Belarusian and Indonesian chambers of commerce. The parties also recognized the need to expand regional cooperation by strengthening sister-city ties between Belarusian and Indonesian cities,” the ministry said.
Maksim Ryzhenkov's meeting with Indonesian Minister for Culture Affairs Fadli Zon yielded agreements to intensify cultural exchanges. The ministers outlined plans to increase institutional contacts and explore holding cultural and cinema days.
The parties also finalized details of a memorandum of understanding to be soon signed between the culture ministries.
