MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) - Thousands of Belarusian machines were officially handed over to Nigeria during a visit of a Belarusian government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, BelTA has learned.
“The red ribbon has been cut: Belarus presented the president of Nigeria with a symbolic key to mark the completion of the first stage of the roadmap. The head of the African state said this is only the beginning. Viktor Karankevich also extended an invitation from our president for the Nigerian president to visit Belarus, and Bola Tinubu accepted it,” the Belarusian Government press service noted.
Viktor Karankevich called the event a milestone in Belarus-Nigeria relations. “The official handover of Belarusian equipment took place as part of the roadmap signed between Nigeria’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Government of Belarus. The roadmap is already yielding results. Today’s event is a significant contribution to strengthening Nigeria’s food security and improving the well-being of its citizens,” he emphasized.
During the visit, the Belarusian delegation is scheduled to hold meetings and negotiations on a variety of topics, ranging from education to trade.
Contacts, contracts, mutual respect, and common interests are what now connect Belarus with many African nations. Despite the distance, countries on different continents understand that Belarus is not limited to exporting goods: the dialogue is built on partnership and mutually beneficial terms, the press service stressed.
