MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – Almost 10.5 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and corn, have been harvested in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“As of 5 October, some 10.493 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and corn, were cropped in Belarus. The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast – 2.598 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 2.121 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 2.046 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.344 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 1.321 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 1.063 million tonnes,” the press service said.
Belarus has harvested 95% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops, including corn, which makes up 2,205,000 hectares. Average grain yield (including corn) is 43 centners per hectare, 5 centners per hectare higher than last year’s level.
The harvest of flax straw totals 198,000 tonnes, with a yield that is 12.8 centners per hectare higher than the previous year.
Corn for silage and green fodder has been harvested from 99% of the area, which is 1,011,000 hectares. So far Belarus has harvested 13.941 million tonnes of haylage (100% of the plan), 19.401 million tonnes of silage (94% of the plan) and 9.562 million tonnes of grass forage units (95% of the plan).
The harvest of open-field vegetables has reached 195,000 tonnes, an increase of 42,000 tonnes compared to the same period last year. With a planted area of over 8,000 hectares, 94% has now been cleared.
Autumn soil tillage has been carried out on 724,000 hectares, representing 50% of the target area of 1.432 million hectares.
