Belarus’ grain harvest continues to move forward

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Belarusian farmers have harvested grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, and millet) from 16% of the areas, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

“As of 22 July, grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, and millet) have been harvested from 16% of the areas, or 323,000 hectares ,” the press service said.

 A total of 1,330,000 tonnes of grain have been threshed, with an average yield of 41.2 centners per hectare. By region, the progress in the harvest looks as follows: Minsk Oblast – 351,000 tonnes, Brest Oblast – 318,000 tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 278,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 192,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 119,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 72,000 tonnes.

Winter rapeseed for grain has been harvested from 168,000 hectares or 38% of the target (that stands at 441,000 hectares). A total of 414,000 tonnes have been threshed, with a yield of 24.6 centners per hectare, which is 2.5 centners per hectare higher than last year.

Flax has been pulled across the area of 19,000 hectares, or 44% of the target. Pace is twice as high as last year in all regions of the country.

Second cut was harvested across an area of 608,000 hectares or 60% of the plan (1,010,000 million hectares).

Hay production has reached 399,000 tonnes or 56% of the plan. Silage harvest progress stands at 333,000 tonnes, or over 1% of the target (20,519,000 tonnes). Forage grasses total 3,252,000 tonnes or 32% of the target (10,131,000 tonnes).

Haylage production has reached 10,549,000 tonnes, or 74% of the target (14,309,000 tonnes).

Fertilizer stocks (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) for winter planting time have been procured at 99% (171,000 tonnes) of the planned requirement.
