Belarus-Germany solar-powered refrigerator under development

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian white goods manufacturer Atlant is working on a solar-powered refrigerator together with German partners, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky.

“Atlant and its German partners are carrying out a project to develop a mobile solar-powered refrigerator. Such appliances are irreplaceable when there is no electricity or where there is a power outage. The concept is about refrigerating the compartment by converting solar energy to charge the fridge overnight. The first sample has already been made. Needless to say, we are at the beginning but the work in this field is very interesting. I think that it will continue,” Gennady Svidersky remarked. In his words, the details of this project were discussed at the Belarusian-European Investment Forum in Luxembourg on 27 October.

Ways to boost the supplies of Belarusian equipment to Africa were in the spotlight of negotiations with French colleagues. “Our equipment is in demand in Africa and is tailored to local conditions. The most complicated aspect of expanding the exports is financing. A plan is being devised to find the most comfortable ways of promoting Belarusian products in Africa using our export financing and resources of international funds,” Gennady Svidersky clarified.

According to the official, the Belarusian auto industry is interested in composite materials which are expected to be produced in the Belarus-China industrial park Great Stone. “Composite materials replace metals as they are stronger. They are mainly applied in the production of cars and agricultural vehicles. We would like the domestic auto industry to use them, too,” Gennady Svidersky summarized.
