Belarus’ food manufacturers expand into five new markets in 2017

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – The companies affiliated with the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry branched out into five new markets in January-September 2017, First Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Marinich told the media on the sidelines of the Prodexpo 2017 food fair on 14 November, BelTA has learned.

“We exported $1.845 billion worth of products in January-September 2017, up 11.1% from 2016. The export went up by $185 million. The companies posted a trade surplus of $1.63 billion. We are tapping into new markets. This year, we entered another five ones,” Leonid Marinich remarked. In particular, Belarusian products made their debut in Panama, Egypt, Mongolia, Austria, and Finland.

The 23rd installment of the international Prodexpo food fair is taking place at the Belexpo National Exhibition Center in Minsk from 14 to 17 November. The expo features domestic and foreign food manufacturers: bakery and confectionery, meat and meat products, sausages, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, non-alcoholic beverages and alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea, grocery, frozen foods, children's and dietary food, and other products.

The exhibition has been organized with the assistance of the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Trade Ministry, the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom, the Minsk City Hall, and the National Union of Consumer Societies Belkoopsoyuz.
