Belarus’ FEZs register 22 new residents in January-September 2023

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - In January-September 2023 the list of residents of free economic zones of Belarus expanded by 22 new enterprises with a total volume of declared investments of over $140 million and plans to create 1,200 new jobs, Olga Bondar, Head of the Development Infrastructure Department of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told the media, BelTA has learned.

New projects are implemented in logistics, mechanical engineering, food and chemical industry, furniture and electrical equipment production, metalworking.

FEZ residents make a significant contribution to the social and economic development of the regions. FEZ residents (with 5.3% of the average number of the employed in the country) account for a fifth of exports of goods, net FDI and industrial production.

“In January-September 2023 the average monthly salary of employees of FEZ resident enterprises went up by 20%, proceeds from sales of products - by 11.6% and industrial output - by 7.5%. The total net profit of the FEZs amounted to Br1.6 billion,” the head of the department said.
