MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) - Belarusian export to African countries have almost quadrupled since the start of 2024, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at the joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 22 October, BelTA has learned.

“As for Africa, exports there have grown almost 4 times in January-August 2024 this year, amounting to $497 million. This is a record-high figure that exceeds the annual performance of all the previous years. The head of state has identified four major African markets. Their combined GDP is more than $520 billion, and the entire GDP of the African continent is $3 trillion. For us, this is actually a bottomless market for our products,” Nikolai Snopkov said.

The key issue for the government is to organize the system of delivery of goods to this market and ensure mutual settlements for the supplied products. “The work is not easy, but necessary to do. A program of activities to develop cooperation between Belarus and African countries for 2024-2026 has been approved for this purpose, as well as a road map for cooperation with all the major stakeholders. I can assure you that the documents are absolutely action-oriented, with clear figures and directions of export supplies. The implementation of the road maps is monitored by the government on a monthly basis,” the first deputy prime minister said.
