MINSK, 21 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Ethiopia are aiming to step up trade and economic cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian National Center for Marketing.

As part of the visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Russia and concurrently to Belarus Genet Teshome Jirru, the center organized a business meeting between the Ethiopian delegation and representatives of Belarusian companies.

Attending the event were representatives of 17 Belarusian enterprises, which showcased the country’s export potential in mechanical engineering, petrochemicals, food production, pharmaceuticals, the IT sector, and tourism.

During the meeting, the Ethiopian side presented the most developed sectors of the country’s economy and investment opportunities, expressed interest in expanding mutual product supplies, industrial cooperation with localization of production in Ethiopia, and exchange of experience.

According to the ambassador, Belarusian‑made tractors are widely used in Ethiopia, with a growing trend toward agricultural machinery powered by alternative fuels. He also highlighted the rising demand for fertilizers and readiness to expand cooperation with Belarus in this area. Given Ethiopia’s strong focus on healthcare and state support for the pharmaceutical industry, imports of pharmaceutical products and equipment are particularly relevant.

Specific steps were discussed to expand Belarus-Ethiopia cooperation in the identified areas and to implement joint projects. The National Center for Marketing is ready to provide the necessary support to strengthen trade and economic ties between Belarus and Ethiopia and to develop mutually beneficial business cooperation.
