Belarus’ energy potential hailed at EU-Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting in Bucharest

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – Belarus’ energy potential was commended at the first ministerial meeting on energy industry of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries which took place in Bucharest, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Romania.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich took part in the event. In his speech he mentioned Belarus’ energy industry, highlighted the country’s achievements in raising effectiveness of the industry and the social sphere in part thanks to renewable energy sources.

The meeting was timed to the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership. Its agenda included the development of Europe’s energy infrastructure, energy efficiency as a means to achieve sustainable energy supply.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Belarusian ambassador held talks with Romanian Minister of Energy Anton Anton, State Secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Danut Neculaescu, heads and members of several delegations of the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries. The parties discussed the development of multi- and bilateral cooperation in energy industry and other topics of Belarus-Romania agenda.
