Belarus eager to step up cooperation with Russia's Rostov Oblast

Belarus eager to step up cooperation with Russia's Rostov Oblast

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - Belarus is keen on supplying equipment and fostering cooperation in industry and agriculture with Russia's Rostov Oblast, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yuri Shuleiko said during a meeting with Governor of Rostov Oblast Yury Slyusar in Minsk on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

Yury Shuleiko noted that cooperation with Rostov Oblast has gained momentum. Belarus is looking forward to strengthening mutually beneficial relations and implementing long-term cooperation programs. Priority areas include mechanical engineering and the exchange of expertise in agriculture, among others.

“We are ready to work together on any mutually beneficial terms,” Yuri Shuleiko said.

The deputy prime minister congratulated Yury Slyusar on his election as head of the region and emphasized that significant progress has already been made in many areas.

“We are seeing positive dynamics in our trade. I believe it will remain in place in the near future. Your region needs passenger transport vehicles, and we are ready to work intensively in this direction. During your visit, we will also demonstrate our capabilities in producing freight, agricultural, and specialized machinery,” Yuri Shuleiko said.

He said that Belarusian buses are already operating on routes in Rostov Oblast, and suggested tailoring vehicle configurations to the specific climatic conditions. For its part, Belarus can share its expertise in using hybrid trolleybuses and electric buses for servicing new residential areas. The launch of the MAZ trade and maintenance center, which will be a multi-brand facility, in Rostov-on-Don at the end of November will be a big event.

Furthermore, manufacturers are ready to offer a wide range of machinery for the agricultural industry. In Belarus, 80% of the machine fleet is domestically produced. Another promising area is the supply of utility vehicles. In addition, Belarus proposes cooperation in machine tool building and metal processing. In agriculture, joint projects are possible in livestock farming, crop production, the manufacturing of technological equipment, and breeding.

Yury Shuleiko also sees significant potential for cooperation in the areas of elevator equipment replacement and water treatment.

In turn, Yury Slyusar thanked for the opportunity to visit Belarus and invited a Belarusian delegation for a return visit. He noted that the region has developed warm relations with Belarus and that a high level of humanitarian and economic cooperation has been achieved. Yury Slyusar stated that the region plans to renew its fleet of passenger vehicles by purchasing around a thousand buses. “The opening of the MAZ center guarantees us the technical reliability of the machines. We understand that throughout the entire lifecycle of the vehicles, there will be specialists, spare parts and maintenance available. This is one factor in favor of Belarusian buses. The second advantage is the attractive leasing rate,” the head of the Russian region said.

He praised Belarusian goods for their high quality. The delegation from Rostov Oblast also plans to explore prospects for cooperation in the supply of electric buses and other machinery.
