MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ alcohol exports to China doubled in January-July 2025, First Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian State Food Industry Concern Belgospishcheprom Tatiana Shedko told the media on the sidelines of the International Business Forum FOOD PROM BEVERAGES, BelTA has learned.
According to Tatiana Shedko, since last year's forum, Belarusian producers have increased their presence on the domestic alcohol market to 85%. “The task is set to increase efficiency and boost export potential. The sanctions imposed last year, as well as increased competition on the Russian market, have stimulated our alcohol producers to develop exports and diversification more actively, and to explore markets in far-abroad countries. Based on the results of the first seven months of this year, we have already doubled our exports to China,” she said.
Speaking about the beverage producers' business forum, the Belgospishcheprom first deputy chairperson said: “This international cooperation is aimed at activating and strengthening mutually beneficial economic ties, and creating conditions for increasing the number of products that can be supplied for export. This is done for our products to meet high standards and be subject to unified approaches in technical regulation.”
According to Tatiana Shedko, Belarusian enterprises presented new developments at the forum. “The government is taking measures that let our producer expand its presence on the market even further. The export potential is also rich. In just the first seven months of this year, exports of our Belarusian beer to Russia have tripled,” she said. “Our international cooperation will be built on new approaches.”
This year's business forum featured more juice producers. “Our consumer prefers domestic producers. This accounts for about 80% of all juice products, despite the variety of imports. Here, we are solving a problem in accordance with the government's directive. There are currently no regulated indicators to accurately identify and determine the quality of juice products. Therefore, we are developing a comprehensive approach together with the Scientific-Practical Center for Foodstuffs of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The research will prevent low-quality juice products from entering the market and ensure all social institutions receive a high-quality product,” Tatiana Shedko shared her plans. In her opinion, the forum will provide an additional incentive for developing agreed-upon solutions.
According to First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus Aleksandr Burak, there are more than 50 organizations producing alcoholic beverages in the country. “We conduct an annual registration of the main technological equipment. Requirements for alcoholic products are established in five technical regulations. Belarus also has a national system in place for certifying the conformity of products manufactured in the country. Regarding the quality indicators for alcoholic products, we currently have about 40 standards in force, 19 of which are interstate standards,” he said. “All this indicates that control over the market of alcoholic beverages in the country is not only established but is also effectively maintained at all stages.”
Belgospishcheprom held the 2nd International Business Forum FOOD PROM BEVERAGES in Minsk on 16-18 September. The forum featured the 6th International Tasting Competition for Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Zalaty Kelikh.
