MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) intends to export sawn timber and agricultural products to southern regions of China, BUCE’s Spokesman Roman Yaniv told BelTA.

Launching supplies of Belarusian sawn timber and agricultural products to southern provinces of China via BUCE was in focus of an online seminar for representatives of Chinese companies. The event was organized by the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange in association with Belarus’ Consulate General in Guangzhou and the international trade facilitation committee of Guangzhou.

BUCE plans to attract large importers of sawn timber, rapeseed oil, and dairy products from Guangdong Province, Hainan Province, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to help Chinese companies to buy goods from Belarusian manufacturers without intermediaries.

“So far, the central part of China, primarily Shanghai, accounts for the bulk of Belarus’ export via BUCE. Belarusian woodworking enterprises deliver products to this region thanks to special trading sessions. In Q1, such transactions amounted to $7.5 million. At the same time, we have recently received many proposals from companies from South China that want to buy not only timber products, but also milk powder, sugar, and rapeseed oil via BUCE. This is why we are working to create a pool of potential buyers from China’s southern provinces, including with the help of Chinese brokers accredited at BUCE,” the press service said.

The online seminar brought together representatives of more than 60 Chinese retailers and manufacturers. BUCE presented its main avenues of work, the procedure of participation in trading sessions for non-Belarusian companies, and advantages of the exchange amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry, and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
