Belarus chooses concept of National Pavilion for EXPO 2017 in Astana

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Belarus has defined the concept of the National Pavilion to be presented at Expo 2017 in Astana, BelTA learned from Evgeny Lazarev, the head of the exhibitions department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

“The concept is based on the design-project proposed by Belgosproyekt Institute. I cannot reveal details. The focus will be on the potential of Belarus’ advantageous geographical position for the Silk Road connecting Europe and Asia, construction of the Great Stone, and also the transit and energy capacities of the country,” Evgeny Lazarev said.

The exhibition space for Belarus’ National Pavilion in Astana will be prepared by the end of 2016. However, everything depends on the degree of readiness of the exhibition center. The pavilion will be indoor and will occupy an area of about 700 square meters. Once the exhibition area is ready, specialists will start working on the design and decorations.

Belarus’ national exposition will be on display during the three months of the EXPO 2017. The program, which is under development, will include both business and entertainment events. A new website will soon be launched to provide all necessary information on the national pavilion. The Belarusian National Day is scheduled for 16 August. Belarus’ Prime Minister is expected to visit the exposition on that day.

EXPO 2017 in Astana is scheduled to run from 10 June to 10 September. The expo will bring together participants from more than 100 countries. The theme chosen for the Expo 2017 is Future Energy.
