Belarus, China launch project to develop nanoelectronic sensors

MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – In 2019, Belarusian and Chinese scientists will launch a project to design nanoelectronic sensors, BelTA has learned from Alexander Korotkevich, the dean of radioengineering and electronics faculty of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR).
BSUIR has recently welcomed delegations of Hangzhou Dianzi University and Zhejiang Shuren University. The delegations discussed joint scientific projects including a project in micro- and nanoelectronics to be launched this year. It deals with the development of nanoelectronic sensors based on porous silicon. According to Alexander Korotkevich, both Belarus and China have accomplishments in this sphere that complement each other. “The development of nanoelectronic sensors is a promising line of work as they are in demand in various sectors,” he noted.
The representatives of the universities also considered possible cooperation in education, in particular the Silk Road joint program for post graduate students. BSUIR and Hangzhou Dianzi University launched the program in 2018. According to it, students complete the first stage of their post-graduate studies in BSUIR and the second in China where they study the basics of the Chinese language and several subjects in English, carry out research, and write theses. Students have to defend their theses twice to obtain Master’s degree of both the universities. The program envisages the participation of the Chinese university professors who will come to Belarus in late March.
The participants of the meeting also proposed to choose the candidates for the Silk Road program on a competitive basis, taking into account the research sphere students major in and their achievements in science and studies. BSUIR and Hangzhou Dianzi University also considered further cooperation: setting up summer schools for students, enhancing academic mobility and providing internships for teaching staff.
The delegations of BSUIR and Zhejiang Shuren University discussed cooperation prospects in education and research. BSUIR offered its Chinese partner to set up joint projects in information technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence.
