Belarus-China joint venture to expand line-up of harvesters

GOMEL, 15 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese joint venture Harbin Dongjin Gomel Agricultural Machine Company (Heilongjiang Province, China) plans to extend the range of manufactured products, BelTA learned from overseas sales manager at Gomselmash Igor Korotkevich.

The enterprise produces combine corncob harvesters. Since its founding in 2010, the joint venture has manufactured more than 2,000 combine harvesters of four modifications. In addition, it has also assembled and sold almost 200 fodder harvesters. "The work to adjust the motor-drawn potato harvesters to the local conditions is nearing completion. The joint venture is getting geared to assemble the first batch of combine grain maize harvesters KZS 812. While corncob harvesting remains the predominant technology in Heilongjiang Province, we need to work for the future," he said.

Igor Korotkevich, who helped create the joint venture, said he was sure that the successful joint work would have been impossible without the support of the state, the central government of China, local authorities of the province where the joint venture is based. Chinese farmers do not have such large funds to buy a combine harvester. This can only be done with the help of State subsidies and preferential treatment, "added the Director.

Gomselmash and Zongshen Industrial Group signed an agreement during the recent Belarusian-Chinese interregional business forum and it can herald a new stage in the cooperation between the two countries in the production of agricultural equipment. Under this agreement, two new plants to manufacture combine harvesters will be set up in China. The plants will be located in the provinces of Gansu and Hebei. They will make several models of Belarusian equipment.

The Belarusian industrial group Gomselmash was initially established as the Gomselmash factory in 1930. Nowadays Gomselmash is one of the largest manufacturers of agricultural machines in the CIS states and Europe. The company offers self-propelled and towed forage harvesters, grain harvesters, mounted mowers, potato and beet harvesters as well as other products.
