Belarus' budget surplus at Br0.4bn in January-February 2020

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – The surplus of Belarus' central state budget amounted to Br0.4 billion in January-February 2020, BelTA learned from the Finance Ministry.

Revenues of the central state budget totaled Br3.5 billion, or 14.2% of the revised annual target. Proceeds from VAT amounted to Br2.5 billion (20.6% of the target), excise duties – Br0.5 billion (16.4%). Revenues from foreign trade operations totaled Br0.4 billion (9.1%). A negative rate of the income tax reflects tax refunds to some taxpayers, the ministry noted.

In January-February 2019, the central state budget spent Br3.1 billion, or 12.2% of the revised annual target. As much as Br1.3 billion (11.8%) was spent on nationwide activities, Br0.7 billion (13.6%) on financing the national economy, Br2.6 billion (14.1%) on financing the social sphere (social policy, education, healthcare, physical training, sport, culture, and mass media).

The surplus of the public administration sector budget totaled Br0.6 billion in January-February 2020. Revenues made up Br8.4 billion, or 15.2% of the revised annual target. Expenses stood at Br7.8 billion, or 13.9%.

The surplus of the Social Security Fund budget reached Br0.1 billion, with proceeds at Br2.8 billion and expenses at Br2.7 billion.

As of 1 March 2020, the arrears on tax and duty payments stood at Br154.1 million.
