MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Yuri Seliverstov visited Perm Territory of Russia on a working trip on 16-17 March. Following negotiations with region’s Governor Dmitry Makhonin, he spoke to journalists about the results of the visit, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador said that in addition to negotiations, the program included visits to several facilities, among them the production site of the Robotech group of companies, a Russian developer and manufacturer of integrated technological solutions in industrial robotics and additive technologies. The company implements full-cycle projects: from designing and manufacturing equipment at its own facilities to implementation and service support. Robotech has successfully carried out a large-scale project to create a robotic production line at one of Belarus’ major machine-building enterprises. The full cycle included layout design, development of robot operation logic, manufacturing, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the equipment. The ambassador discussed with Robotech’s leadership the prospects for expanding industrial cooperation with Belarusian partners (comprehensive automation of production operations, including in agriculture, and the introduction of additive technologies), as well as the specifics of preferential regimes operating in Belarus. The parties also exchanged views on the prospects of localizing the company’s production in Belarus.

Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov noted that given Belarus’ strategic goal of increasing productivity and improving both the quality and volume of production, robotics is a key element in achieving these objectives. “They are already cooperating with Belarusian enterprises, we saw how it works. This is a very promising direction,” he said.

At the enterprise, the diplomat also examined the personnel training system. “The work is organized quite effectively, because it’s clear that CNC machines and robots require trained personnel. Today it’s not enough just to buy the equipment: you need someone who knows how to operate it. And most importantly, someone who can program it so the robot can produce goods and perform tasks. And that is not simple,” he noted.

The ambassador also visited the Perm Scientific and Educational Center Rational Subsoil Use, where he reviewed projects in ecology and rational use of natural resources. At a meeting with representatives of the Industry and Trade Ministry of Perm Territory and the Perm National Research Polytechnic University, cooperation was discussed between the Perm academic community and Belarusian specialists in implementing technological developments. Special attention was given to cooperation between mining departments of universities in potassium salt extraction technologies. Joint work was outlined in soil science, agrochemistry, and veterinary science.

According to the diplomat, during the meeting with the governor, the parties touched upon the region’s needs for machinery, Belarus’ participation in supplies, and socio-cultural cooperation between Perm and Minsk. “There is a proposal to enhance cooperation with Gomel by establishing sister-city ties. There are grounds for this, including in tourism. To make the cooperation easier, the governor told us that a direct flight between Perm and Minsk will soon be launched. This flight existed before but was later discontinued,” Ambassador Yuri Seliverstov said.

In general, the ambassador is convinced that Belarus and Perm Territory have significant potential for developing cooperation.
