BREST, 31 July (BelTA) – Georgia’s Batumi is planning to open a Belarusian trading center in the future, Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Ermakov told the media in Brest on 29 July, BelTA has learned.

Belarus’ Brest and Georgian Batumi signed an agreement on cooperation in April 2015. Relations between the regions are dynamic. “We cooperate closely. We have been working to make sure the goods produced in Brest and the region find their way to the market in our country. Belarusian products are renowned for their excellent quality. We supply mainly citrus fruits, mineral water, and wine,” Giorgi Ermakov noted. “I would like to open a secret: we are planning to set up a Belarusian trading center in Batumi that will sell Belarusian-made products,” he noted.

According to Giorgi Ermakov, the time has come to raise the relations to a higher level. “We want to bring them to the regional level. We want the relations to develop not only between Brest and Batumi, but also between Brest Oblast and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. For example, we have a well developed agriculture. You too have something to offer in this industry,” the Mayor of Batumi noted.

Giorgi Ermakov attended the celebrations dedicated to the 998th anniversary of Brest. The regional center hosted more than 20 delegations from different regions of Belarus, and also from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Slovakia.
