Bach: Belarusian agricultural products may take a niche on the European market

MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural products may occupy their niche on the European market, UN Deputy Secretary General, Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Christian Friis Bach said in an interview to the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.

In his words, Belarusian products are in demand both in Europe and worldwide. “If you develop your export potential, it will contribute to the wellbeing of your people. Many products meet international standards, and we will help promote them. For instance, agricultural products may take their niche on the European market,” Christian Friis Bach said.

According to the UN Deputy Secretary General, UNECE Executive Secretary, the Belarusian agricultural sector has many opportunities to make products that can be in demand abroad. “I tasted some of Belarusian products at an exhibition and can say with confidence that they are ready for the international market,” he added.

Christian Friis Bach emphasized that Belarus had managed to considerably improve its Doing Business rankings. “Your public-private partnership experience inspires other countries. I saw during international conferences the interest to the steps Belarus had made in its PPP development. You can be an example to other countries,” he added.
