About 60 agreements to be signed during Belarus-Russia forum of regions

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - About 60 agreements will be signed during the Fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic, the co-chairperson of the organizing committee for the the fourth forum of regions Marianna Shchetkina told the media, BelTA has learned.

“This is not only a platform where we discuss any question and identify prospects. This is also the opportunity to broaden and deepen the contacts,” Marianna Shchetkina said. “About 60 agreements in various areas between our regions of Russia and Belarus are in the works,” she noted.

During the preparations special attention is attached to the organizational aspects of the special exhibition of Belarusian products. “The exhibition will showcase the advanced areas of our science, innovation, and information technology,” the vice speaker said. According to Marianna Shchetkina, Belarus has been allocated 2,000 square meters of exhibition space. Many applications for participation have been submitted and are being processed now.

Marianna Shchetkina also drew attention to the importance of the fulfillment of the instructions given by President Alexander Lukashenko during the previous forum of regions. One of them recommended Belarusian councils of deputies to be more proactive and conclude agreements with Russian colleagues and enhance cooperation.

“The forum of regions is a very effective platform. It is of great interest, and we need to work towards the result. Belarus and Russia cooperate in the Union State. The two countries have common approaches and the authorities who can address emerging issues,” she said.

The Fourth Forum of Regions “Integration of the regions of Russia and Belarus in high technology, innovation and the information society” will be held in Moscow on 29-30 June.
