GRODNO, 28 March (BelTA) – A new resident company of the free economic zone (FEZ) Grodnoinvest will build a container terminal in the vicinity of the freight train station Svisloch, FEZ Grodnoinvest representatives told BelTA.
The terminal will specialize in transloading containers from the 1520mm gauge track to the 1435mm one and vice versa depending on the direction of shipping. Modern equipment will also allow transloading containers to trucks and storing containers both indoors and outdoors. The terminal will also be able to transload bulk cargoes. A site for storing oversized cargoes will be arranged.
The construction of the first stage of the terminal may begin this year while the company may begin providing services starting 2025. The total investment costs will exceed $23 million. As many as 70 jobs will be created in the course of the project’s implementation.
According to FEZ Grodnoinvest, logistics is one of the most promising ways of development for Grodno Oblast. A number of investment sites of FEZ Grodnoinvest have been created for implementing the relevant projects. The advantageous geographical position at the border of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union, taxation preferences of FEZ Grodnoinvest, and well-developed transport infrastructure attract international investors. By the way, a company has recently become a resident of FEZ Grodnoinvest and intends to build a logistics hub in Grodno District. By the way, FEZ Grodnoinvest resident companies with capital from the United Arab Emirates and investments from Netherlands are also successfully implementing their projects in the area of logistics.
