Belarus, Russia to sign nearly 30 agreements on regional cooperation at Moscow forum

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – About 30 agreements on regional cooperation will be signed at the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 29-30 June, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the meeting of the second session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly on 26 June, BelTA informs.

The leaders of the two states are expected to take part in the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The program will include plenary and sectional meetings, an exhibition and a fair of Belarusian goods. It is planned that a package of commercial export contracts worth approximately $300 million and about 30 agreements on regional cooperation will be signed during the forum. "The forum has already become a good tradition. It gives a significant humanitarian and economic effect, and, first of all, contributes to the growth of Belarusian exports," Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

The chairman of the Council of the Republic added that on 5-9 July Minsk will host the 26th OSCE PA session and the related events, which will be attended by MPs from 53 states. The theme of the session is “Strengthening mutual trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the OSCE region”.

The Council of the Republic assisted in the organization of the meeting of the Central Committee of the member states of the Central European Initiative (CEI), which was held in Minsk on 30 May. Parliamentary delegations of 12 states adopted the final document and coordinated a new wording of several articles on the CEI major principles. In autumn 2017 Minsk is expected to host the CEI Parliamentary Assembly meeting, Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
