MOSCOW, 23 October (BelTA) – Minsk and Moscow regularly exchange information on their interaction with the United States, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing when asked about the intensification of Belarus-U.S. contacts and the role Belarus currently plays in normalizing Russia-U.S. relations, BelTA has learned.

“Should I repeat myself? In case anyone says I didn't stress this enough in my answer, let me repeat: Belarus is our closest strategic ally, with whom we closely coordinate our approaches in the international arena, including under the program of coordinated foreign policy actions of the Union State countries for 2024-2026 approved at the highest level. In the spirit of our allied relations, the presidents and the leadership of the foreign ministries of our countries regularly exchange information about the development of cooperation with the new US administration,” Maria Zakharova said.

“In general, we stand for a constructive and mutually respectful dialogue with all our foreign partners. I would like to emphasize that this is not at the expense of our national interests or allied commitments, and we take into account their practical approach to Russia,” she noted.

Maria Zakharova stated that since Donald Trump took office in the United States, Washington has expressed its intention to pursue a more balanced foreign policy. “We take note of both their statements and their concrete steps in this regard. Moreover, the White House says that this course will apply both to Russia and to Russia’s allies,” she added.
