Volfovich: Belarusian army learns the lessons from special military operation

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Armed Forces are incorporating lessons learned from the special military operation and other contemporary armed conflicts, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told journalists after briefing the head on state on a recent inspection of military units, BelTA reports.

Journalists asked Aleksandr Volfovich to what extent the experience of the special military operation in Ukraine is being applied within the Belarusian army, especially given the willingness of Russian allies to share this experience. He was also asked if this was a focus during the recent military inspection.

“Undoubtedly, the experience of the special military operation and combat actions in other conflicts around the world is taken into account in our Armed Forces,” said Aleksandr Volfovich. “It has been incorporated into combat training programs, and we naturally focused on it during the inspection. When planning our inspection, we took into account the forms and methods of combat being practiced in the ongoing special military operation.”

According to him, the inspection assessed the coordination of small units and assault groups. It also evaluated troops’ ability to prepare and fortify positions based on the experience of the special military operation. “The principle is this: the deeper you dig in and camouflage yourself, the greater your chances of survival and mission success,” he emphasized.

The drills also tested the military’s capacity to counter unmanned aerial vehicles and operate electronic warfare systems. “Of course, this is taken into account. We must teach our service members what is necessary to survive on the battlefield and accomplish their assigned missions,” Aleksandr Volfovich added.

The Security Council chief noted that the recent Zapad 2025 exercise was also a key contributor. “During this exercise, our Russian colleagues shared with us the practical experience (not just words, but actions) they are gaining during the special military operation. Today, this is being integrated into the training of our Armed Forces personnel,” he concluded.
