Ukrainian expert: Belarus works consistently for peace among Slavs

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) - Belarus has been working systematically to ensure that Slavic peoples live in peace, Ukrainian public figure Dmitry Vasilets said in the latest episode of BelTA’s V Teme [On Point] project.

“Belarus can play a constructive role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. After all, it is a country that acts systematically to ensure that Slavs live in peace,” Dmitry Vasilets said.

In this connection, he commented on statements that regularly circulate in the media to the effect that even after the cessation of the armed conflict in Ukraine, the three brotherly Slavic peoples will not be able to live in peace for many years, even decades. However, in his opinion, ordinary Ukrainians will be able to quickly return to normal relations with Russians and Belarusians.

“I am confident that the negative processes will dissolve very quickly. The development of the internet greatly contributes to this. Previously, after all, there was no such broad access to information,” Dmitry Vasilets noted. “But now a large part of Ukraine’s population sees very clearly that in fact NATO is using them as cannon fodder. It has become clear to people that the Bandera ideology and the stories about European integration and joining NATO are nothing more than a hybrid form of occupation.”
