Svetlov: Slavonic Bazaar became a symbol of cultural unity

VITEBSK, 11 July (BelTA) – The International Festival of Arts Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk has become a symbol of cultural unity based on the ideas of kindness and creation, Culture Minister of Belarus Boris Svetlov has said at a press conference timed to the opening of the festival on 11 July, BelTA has learnt.

“The Slavonic Bazaar festival has evolved into a global brand that draws thousands of artists, fans, and tourists from around the world, journalists and all those who are interested in music,” Boris Svetlov said. He noted that over the past years the music forum in Vitebsk has welcomed dozens of thousands of best representatives of various countries, while the festival has turned into an undisputable symbol of the unity of Slavonic and other cultures based on humanistic ideas of peace, kindness and creation,” Boris Svetlov said.

This year the festival positions itself as the festival of festivals and has its peculiar features, Boris Svetlov added. Its timeframe has been reduced by two days, which made each day more intensive and saturated. The festival has made a bigger focus on music contests. This year separate gala concerts of the founding members will be replaced by a single gala “Concert of Friendship: Union State Invites”, there will be more concerts of Russian and foreign music stars.

The 22nd Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk festival will be held from 11 to 15 July. It will bring together artists from 31 countries. The accreditation will be issued for about 5,000 people. The forum will be covered by over 500 journalists from 14 countries. The program of the festival features 60 events that will be held on 13 concert sites.
