Svetlov: Listapad Film Festival is the pride of Belarus

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Listapad International Film Festival is the pride of Belarus, Culture Minister of Belarus Boris Svetlov told BelTA.

“It is a big event for the whole country. The fact that representatives of 36 countries have come up to Belarus is expanding the borders of the festival,” the minister is confident.

According to Boris Svetlov, the festival’s selection of pictures which first of all touch upon moral issues distinguishes Listapad from any other festival.

“I think that the festival should have a robust financial support. We still have a lot to do in respect of uniting the forum and the cinema market. The main thing is, while remembering about the financial side of the issue, do not forget about its spiritual component and the main mission of the forum,” the minister said.

The Listapad Film Festival program will comprise numerous out-of-competition and retrospective screenings, meetings with famous cinematographers, master classes and exhibitions. Films will be shown at the cinema houses Tsentralny, Mir, Pioner, Pobeda and the House of Cinema.

The forum is organized by the Center of Visual and Performing Arts ART Corporation. The founders of the festival are the Culture Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, the Minsk City Hall with the participation of the Belarusian TV and Radio Company, Belarusfilm Studio and the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers.
