Russia’s People’s Artist Grigory Leps shares impressions of Slavianski Bazaar

VITEBSK, 19 July (BelTA) – The Slavianski Bazaar festival is all about music and celebration, Russia’s People’s Artist Grigory Leps told journalists before his solo concert at the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex, BelTA has learned.

Speaking of Belarus, he noted that he does not know another country today where one could gather and sing in peace. “A wonderful festival, wonderful people give a warm welcome,” Grigory Leps said.

The artist holds Belarusian music in high esteem, considering the ensembles Pesnyary and Syabry to be great professionals. “I still listen to their old music. Not many young musicians are capable of that,” he said, wishing the Slavianski Bazaar “another 35 years.”

Grigory Leps performed songs from his new album “Peace to Your Home” at the concert, along with compositions long familiar to his audience. “So what if we were given only such a short time to fly together?” – the hall sang along. From the very first chords, everyone recognized the famous “I Raise My Hands.” The artist called the song “Terminator” a lyrical love song, which received a standing ovation. Another new track, “A Joke,” also proved a hit. Before singing “I Am Happy,” the artist wished everyone happiness. Together with the audience, he performed “A Glass of Vodka on the Table.”

Over the course of his musical career, Grigory Leps has released 15 solo albums, received 16 Golden Microphone awards, and has been a multiple laureate of the “Song of the Year” festival and many other projects.
