Minsk, 26 June (BelTA) – There is a need for more attractive pay-your-way facilities in the Belarusian capital, Belarus Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the Minsk City Hall meeting on 25 June.
The meeting took place after the PM and the Minsk Mayor got familiar with the capital's preparations to celebrate Independence Day of Belarus. Partaking in the meeting were heads of Minsk district administrations, urban services and structural subdivisions of the city hall.
“A lot is done in the capital, including new construction and reconstruction projects, refurbishment efforts. It would be great if Minsk downtown as well as residential areas had more compact, cosy and attractive places and facilities. If it is, for instance, a park it should be made with love,” the Prime Minister said. We do not need wasteful attitude and window-dressing here, he stressed.
Cafes and sports facilities are among promising projects. “They are in demand. Initiatives should be encouraged,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. According to the PM, there are a lot of opportunities to implement commercial projects, set up new facilities.
He stressed that the objects, sports and entertainment facilities in particular, should pay back.
The Prime Minister also turned attention of the participants of the meeting to how much money is taken out of the country to the neighboring countries: Vilnius, Warsaw, border cities, for shopping and attendance of various entertainment facilities. “Cannot we keep this money here?” Mikhail Myasnikovich wondered addressing the authorities of the Belarusian capital. For this we need to offer an alternative, i.e. attractive services and goods, he stressed.
