MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Iran have been steadily developing their trade and economic cooperation, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Alexander Mikhnevich said at a solemn event on 11 February to mark Iran’s National Day, BelTA has learnt.
Alexander Mikhnevich stressed the importance of developing cooperation with Iran which is one of the recognized leaders in the region. “Belarus is ready to take all necessary measures to develop cooperation with Iran,” the deputy minister said. He also underlined a high level of the political dialogue between Belarus and Iran. In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Mohammad Reza Sabouri noted that the bilateral Belarusian-Iranian relations and cooperation in the international arena show a positive trend. Various Belarusian-Iranian events including international conferences also testify to the fact.
According to Mohammad Reza Sabouri, Belarus’ participation in the Customs Union opens new opportunities to develop cooperation with other countries, including Iran. The diplomat expressed confidence that the Belarusian-Iranian contacts in trade, industry and science will receive further development in 2014.
